Working on a custom order baby layette. It is taking longer than anticipated with so many distractions around the house. I lock myself in the studio at times.
I am always intrigued with this particular customer's color choices. She leans towards the non-traditional colors. Colors I would not usually select. And I (and she) have been well pleased with the results! The recipients have always been happy as well.
The pattern is Berroco's Free Pattern Pie. We're doing the sweater/kimono of this set and a pair of booties and hat from a different pattern called Ruffles For Kate. The booties won't have the ruffles.
The kimono is knit using Caron Simply Soft in Sunshine. The hat and booties will also be knit in this color. The blanket will be knit using Off White.
Will be working on the ties in Off White for the kimono. The closures are snaps and the ties are merely decoration.
I can't believe my first baby sweater was knitted in 2006. Less than a year after teaching myself how to knit.
The first photo shows the color the most accurately.
So, what colors would you consider???? I'd love to hear what colors you would choose and why.

Purple and White Hand knit baby sweater complete
Put the finishing touches on this cute sweater. I love the slip stitch pattern. Pattern is from Leisure Arts Precious Layettes to Knit, pattern #4 "Dapper". Definitely not as hard as it may look. I used Caron Simply Soft acrylic yarn in purple and white. The drape of this yarn is fantastic. This pattern has been used to create 2 layettes (one in lavender and white, and one in mint green and white) for a dental assistant as gifts.
The sweater is now listed on ArtFire.

"C" is for crochet hooks
Crochet hooks are one my tools of the trade. I have duplicates and even triplicates. I keep them standing tall in a jar.
I love collecting used vintage crochet hooks. They have a history behind each scratch or dent. Someone somewhere may have used this particular crochet hook to create a sweater for her grand-child. I’ve even spent time creating a story behind them.
I have recently been blessed with crochet hooks and knitting needles my mother-in-law used. My sister-in-law gave them to me during their last visit with us. I didn’t have a really good chance at getting to know my m-i-l well, but I loved her and she loved me. I enjoy hearing stories about her from the family members.
With my hooks, I create baby sweater sets, Barbie doll fashions, doll clothes, afghans, doilie, slipper socks and so much more.

First baby sweater

Finally put the finishing touches on this sweater. This is the first knitting project I've done. From Bernat's "Baby Hoodie". Minus the hood. It seemed so boring and plain, I needed something to add some appeal. By looking at other Bloggers' finsihed work, I got the idea to try duplicate stitch and found a simple flower motif. I'm thinking of adding some flower "buds" along the neckline all around.
